Privacy Policy

This policy covers pdfperfect.org. PDF Perfect is run by Ayesha Iftikhar. It should be read alongside our cookie policy and terms of service. If anything here is unclear, see Contact below.

What we never collect

• Your PDF files or anything inside them.
• The names of your files. They stay in your browser and are not sent in analytics.
• Passwords, payment details or an account, because there are none.

Compressing, merging, splitting, editing, rotating and extracting all happen in JavaScript on your device. When you download the result, your browser saves a file it created itself. You can check this yourself: How PDF Perfect works shows how to confirm that no request carries your file.

What we do collect

Usage analytics

We use Google Analytics (including Firebase Analytics, which is part of it) to understand how the site is used. It records things like the pages you visit, which tool you used, file sizes and page counts, the compression level you picked, errors that occurred, your browser and device type, and your approximate location as estimated by Google from your IP address. It doesn't record file names or file contents.

Campaign links

If you arrive through a link with utm_ tags (for example from a newsletter), we keep those tags in your browser's session storage for the rest of your visit so analytics can tell which link brought you. They are cleared when you close the tab.

Feedback you send us

If you use the Feedback button, we store your rating, category and message, the page you were on, your browser's user agent, the time, and your email address if you choose to give it. This is kept in Google Firebase Cloud Firestore. We only use your email to reply to your feedback.

Cookies and local storage

Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_*) to tell visits apart. PDF Perfect itself uses your browser's storage only for the campaign tags described above and, if you change it, your light or dark theme choice. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the tools keep working. Our cookie policy lists each one.

Advertising

To keep the tools free, PDF Perfect may show ads served by Google AdSense. Ads are shown on the page around the tools; they have no access to your files, which stay on your device.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website and other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
• You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings or at aboutads.info.

Third parties

• Google Analytics / Firebase (Google LLC): usage analytics and feedback storage. Google AdSense (Google LLC): advertising, when shown. Google Privacy Policy.
• Google Fonts: the site's fonts load from Google's servers, which receive your IP address when they're requested.
• Hostinger: hosts the website and, like any web host, processes standard server logs (such as IP addresses and requested pages) to deliver and secure the site.

We don't sell your data. Apart from the advertising cookies described above, which Google sets directly, we don't share information with advertisers.

How long we keep it

Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in our Google Analytics property, which is at most 14 months. Feedback is kept until it has been dealt with and is no longer needed, and we'll delete it sooner if you ask.

Your rights

You can ask us what feedback we hold from you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. To limit analytics, you can block cookies or use Google's Analytics opt-out add-on. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as the GDPR.

Children

PDF Perfect isn't aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. The feedback form is optional and asks for no personal details beyond an optional email.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top.
